Half the Sky: Turning Oppression Into Opportunity for Women Worldwide

The summer reading for our class is a book by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn. It was released last fall in hardcover and is just out in paperback in June. I'll warn you that there are parts of it that are pretty hard to read, but the note that the authors ultimately strike is one of hope and possibility.

We'll be using the book as a springboard for the course, so it's worth taking the time to read it fairly carefully. If you're interested, you can check out the many many links that Kristof & WuDunn include in the book, as well as their website.

In addition, here's that article by Kristof about How to Save the World.
